What Are You Waiting For?

How many times have you thought about something you really want to do, and then talked yourself out of it? You convinced yourself you would do it later, tomorrow, next year. Why? What are you waiting for?

I get that there are a ton of reasons to put off doing something: kids, money, a job. It’s not hard to come up with reasons to delay a plan. But, don’t wait too long or you might never get to actually do it.

I recently heard about a man who had just retired. He always dreamed of traveling and seeing the world. Even though he had vacation time and the money to take trips each year, he always put it off. For over thirty years, instead of using his vacation time to travel, he worked. Guess what happened? He passed away two months after he retired. He never got to see any of the places he dreamed of visiting.

This isn’t anything you haven’t heard before. We all hear stories like this. It happens every day.

What are you waiting for? Go ahead use the good dishes.

What are you waiting for? Go ahead use the good dishes.

We might think about it for a few days and vow to stop putting off things in our own lives. But, then life gets in the way. We get distracted, and we forget about the promises we’ve made to ourselves.

We do this with lots of things: the good dishes only come out once a year during a “special” occasion, the jewelry is only worn at “special” times, the good wine is saved for a “special” dinner.

I’m here to tell you the time is now. No need to wait until tomorrow, next year, ten years from now. Don’t wait for a “special” time to follow your dreams, use the good dishes, or drink the bottle of wine you’ve been savoring.

What are you waiting for?

There’s never going to be a “perfect” moment to make a change. Isn’t there always going to be something going on in your life that you can use as an excuse to put off whatever it is you’re thinking about doing?

It isn’t hard to find a reason to shut down a dream.

I get it.

We look for external things we can use as an excuse because we’re afraid to make a change. It can be scary. It’s safer to find a reason to put something off but you can’t let fear hold you back. You have to do whatever it is you know you truly want to do, and you have to go for it.

I want you to ask yourself what it would take to do one thing you’ve always wanted to do. Something you plan to do later, and figure out a way to make it happen.

Now.

What are you waiting for?

Find meaning each day,

Dara
