Back Home

“I’m back home,” my daughter Zoe screamed as we entered our house.

“We’re home and we aren’t going anywhere for a long time,” my other daughter, Avi, yelled.

“We’ve been away for a week,” I pointed out, “Both of you are acting like you’ve been forced to go away to a horrible place for months at a time.”

“We’re just glad to be home,” Zoe said, “We love it here.”

I can’t argue with that rationale. How wonderful to know they both love being at home. Hopefully, they’ll always feel this way, no matter where their lives take them.

I have to admit, my kids were being a little dramatic. We’d been in the mountains of North Carolina, on Spring Break, and it had been a lot of fun.

It’s always nice to come back home after being away. I like the feeling I get when I drive into my neighborhood after being gone for any length of time. I love to walk into my house, my comfort zone.

I hope you feel the same way about your home.

Create a place you like calling home. Somewhere you want to come back to.

Create a place you like calling home. Somewhere you want to come back to.

It’s nice to love where you live, to make it your own, and to carve out a little place in the world where you feel safe and secure. It doesn’t matter if your home is big or small, modest or elaborate. Wherever you live: in a house, apartment, flat, trailer, rental, or dorm room, take the time to create a space that makes you feel good when you come home to it.

Life is hectic and stressful. We spend a lot of time running around, from one activity to the next, and we all need a place where we can go and unwind. A place to rest, relax, and rejuvenate.

Even if you’re living somewhere that’s temporary, and you plan to move in the next year, it’s important to take a little time to make it your own. You don’t need to spend a lot of money or buy expensive elaborate decorations. It’s about figuring out what makes you feel happy when you walk through the front door of your home.

You want to be happy you’re home. You want your house to feel inviting and welcome you with opened arms. It’s always fun to go away, but it’s also great to come home.

Whenever I go out of town, I take a little bit of time before I leave to make sure my house is clean and neat. That way, when I come home after being gone, I’m coming back to a place I can enjoy. Who wants to come home to a messy house? Not this girl.

There’s always enough to do when you get home after being away: unpacking, doing the laundry, sorting the mail, and going grocery shopping. Having a clean house to come home to makes this process a bit easier.

Make your house a true reflection of who you are. Create a warm and welcoming place to call home, and no matter where your day takes you, find comfort in knowing your home is there waiting for you.

Find meaning each day,

Dara
