It’s a Pajama Day

I’m being lazy today.

I’m staying in my PJ’s, bagging my “to do” list, and clearing my calendar.

It’s pajama day.

There are a slew of things I “should” do, but nothing I really “must” do. Nothing is going to happen if I take a PJ day. Except my spirit might be renewed, and I might feel refreshed and energized.

It’s a gorgeous day. The perfect temperature to build a fire outside on the porch, and enjoy the scenery, reading and writing. And that’s what I plan to do. I also might take a long nap somewhere in there.

So, the bills won’t get paid today, the laundry folded, and we might have sandwiches for dinner. But who cares? It doesn’t matter.

It's a pajama day, and there's nothing I enjoy more.

It’s a pajama day, and there’s nothing I enjoy more.

Do you feel like you need a PJ day? Have you been rushing around lately, doing everything for everyone, and could you benefit from having a little alone time? If you feel you need it, go ahead, take it. I’m giving you permission. Clear your calendar, take a sick day, do whatever you need to do to get a few hours of alone time. It will do wonders for your spirit. But don’t stay home and clean the house. Stay home and enjoy being there. Without working.

Here’s a little tip: no one is going to “tell” you to give yourself a PJ day, but you. And me, of course! You have to be the one to figure out if you need it, and then make it happen.

And I know you can.

If we don’t take the time to care for ourselves, we can’t get the most enjoyment out of our lives. I promise you will feel refreshed, have more patience and energy, and be filled with joy.

And who wouldn’t want that?

Don’t feel guilty about it either. Guilt is a wasted emotion, sucks the joy out of our lives, and just makes us feel bad. Who needs that?

Find meaning each day,

Dara
