Summer’s a Brewing

It’s almost here, summer. As Avi says, “Summer’s a brewing,” and she’s right. It’s just around the corner.

I remember when I was a kid, how excited I was for the last day of school. I couldn’t wait to get out, be on break, and have freedom from the normal demands of schoolwork and studying. Truth be told, I’m not really sure how much I studied in school, but I was pretty darn excited when summer finally arrived.

It didn’t matter what my summer intentions were: a job, beach trip, or camp. Regardless of my summer plans, it was always exciting when that last school bell rang, and we were dismissed.

And my kids are no different.

I love the excitement and enthusiasm they have for what’s coming around the corner. You can almost feel their joy: it’s palpable, contagious, and incredibly authentic. They have a sense of adventure for anything and everything that’s coming up.

Wouldn’t it be nice if adults lived with that kind of excitement?

Everyday.

In our grownup lives.

I recognize, it’s hard to get excited about a huge report that will take you hours to do, a big presentation you’re nervous to deliver, or a a meeting you dread attending. But try to find something to get excited about!

flower 400It’s easy for adults to get into a rut, and lose our sense of purpose. RESPONSIBILITIES can suck the life out of anyone. But if your job is just about collecting a paycheck, and you don’t feel any enthusiasm about going to work, it might be time to re-examine what you’re doing.

We all deserve to live with stimulation and joy. Maybe not the “summer’s a brewing” type of enthusiasm, but if your bored and feel like your life is completely dull, it’s time to put some zest back into your life.

You deserve to live with it.

Look for opportunities to add some spice into your life, your job, or your relationship. It might take a little work, and you might not know what to do immediately. If you take the time to think about small changes you can make in your life, that get you excited, it might revamp your purpose, and ignite your passion.

And living with passion, in whatever your doing, is the adult version of “summer’s a brewing” excitement.

Start to think about it right now.

Find meaning each day,

Dara
