Just Hit the Undo Button

I was writing recently, and accidentally hit the wrong button. For a second I thought I’d deleted what I’d written, and apparently shrieked. I admit, several bad words came out of my mouth, but I’m not trying to earn the Saint Mommy award. We already know I’m not even in the running. And I’m more than OK with that.

My daughter, Avi, came over to see what had happened. My kids aren’t surprised when I have technology issues. They try to lend a helping hand when it’s needed. And it’s needed more often than I’d like to admit.

Fortunately, my brilliant writing wasn’t lost. However, Avi had a simple solution if I should push a button I didn’t mean to push.

“Mom, just hit the “undo” button, and you can go back to where you were,” she easily explained.

“Really?” I said, “It’s just that easy?”

Just hit the undo button, and go back. How easy is that?

Just hit the undo button, and go back. How easy is that?

I didn’t know about this “undo” button. I’m sure you’re wondering how it’s possible that I didn’t know about this button, but don’t judge.

Of course that got me thinking. How many things in life would I like an “undo” on? I can think of many, and I’m sure you can also. Wouldn’t it be nice if it was that easy to change a given situation in our lives? Just hit an “undo” button, and go back to where you were before you made a wrong turn in life.

Sadly, we can’t reverse bad decisions that easily. However, we can try to live with the understanding that sometimes, with a little guts and a lot of patience, we can “undo” some of the decisions we’ve made. Especially if we aren’t happy with the outcome.

If you’re unhappy about something in your life, have the courage to ask yourself if it’s time to make a change. And if the answer is “yes,” go and hit the “undo” button.

Find meaning each day,
