I Just Want To Go To The Bathroom Alone

I just want to go to the bathroom alone? Alone? One wouldn’t think this is asking a lot. I mean, it’s not like I’m begging for diamonds or hidden treasures. I just want to pee and poop in private. Private.

My kids aren’t babies anymore. They can certainly be left alone. Yet, almost every single time I go into the bathroom, they immediately need something. Or think they need something. I haven’t been locking the door to my bedroom, but I’m going to have to start. How sad is that? My kids are teenagers and they can’t follow the simple direction of not entering the bathroom when “Mommy” is using it.

Why is this even an issue? Almost every darn time I sit on the potty, THEY come into the room. I’ve asked nicely. I’ve asked repeatedly. But I’m done.

I just want to go to the potty alone!

I just want to go to the potty alone!

Recently, there was an incident that pushed me over the edge. I was doing my business, when in walked Avi, completely unaware of the fact that I was BUSY. Never mind that five minutes before I went to the bathroom, I announced to THEM that I was going to the bathroom and to LEAVE ME ALONE. Of course, I said this in a more user friendly voice. I was in a good mood.

But then she came into the bathroom. And do you know what she needed? She had the nerve to ask me what the Netflix password was. Seriously. Recently, I wrote about how I was forced to log my kids out of Netflix, and change the password, because they were spending too much time binging on Netflix. Yes, it’s been a little painful around here. But, I’m not caving in, and there’s no way in hell I’m giving them the password.

“Get out of this room right now,” I yelled at Avi who was standing in front of me while I was on the potty.

“Please, Mom,” She said, “I really need the password.”

Does she think that because I’m sitting on the potty, I’ll be more likely to give in and share the password just to get her out of the bathroom?

I’m not sure what she was thinking, but I’m telling you, as of this moment, the bathroom door and the password will remain secure. And Locked.

Find meaning each day,

Dara

My kids AND CAT used to sit outside the bathroom door sticking their little fingers and paws under the door opening. Like I was going to get lost in there or something!
