Dare To Be Different

It’s OK to live off the grid and dare to be different.

Have you ever gone into a school, looked around and thought, everyone here looks the same? Most middle and high school kids don’t want to stand out. They want to blend, to belong, to feel like they fit in with a group. While there might be cliques, probably everyone in each group tends to look and act the same. Of course this makes perfect sense: at that age, most kids want to be with people who have similar qualities and share similar traits.

There’s safety in numbers, especially when you’re a teenager.

As you get older, you have the freedom to live off the grid.

As you get older, you have the freedom to live off the grid.

As we get older and spread our wings, we start to notice our individual qualities and quirks. Being like everyone else stops feeling important. We learn to care less about what other people think about us and more about being ourselves. It takes time to become comfortable with who you are, who you were meant to be.

I’m here to tell you that it’s OK to be different.

To be your own self.

Your sense of style might be different from those around you, you might have diverse interests and hobbies compared to the other people in your world and your views might not be inline with those around you.

It’s OK.

Go for it.

Embrace who you truly are. Be your wonderful and unique self. Give yourself permission to figure it out. Dare to be different.

You don’t have to live your life struggling to fit in. You don’t have to conform to the “right” way of doing things. You have to figure out for yourself what you want out of your life, how you want to spend your time and then you have to posses the courage to follow your heart.

That’s the hard part.

It’s easy to go along with the group. It take courage to live off the grid. To be different. To follow your passions instead of living another person’s dream. Especially a dream someone else has for you.

Living off the grid and marching to the beat of your own tune is a bold move, but absolutely well worth it.

Other people might question you, judge you, or ask why you’re doing whatever it is you’re doing that’s “different” in their eyes. Here’s the thing: you have to live honestly and you do that by following your heart and living life the way you want to live it.

The world needs people to embrace who they really are. Who they’re meant to be. You have qualities inside of you that make you special. Unique. Wonderful. When you share your talents and passions with the world, everyone benefits. Look at some of the great inventors, scholars, movers and shakers of the past. Most were quirky. They didn’t conform. They made up their own rules as they went along. What they had was talent, a strong desire to be successful at what they believed in, and a passion to carry out whatever it was they were doing. They were brave souls who dared to live life on their own terms.

Live your life in a manner that feels good to you. Be authentic. Live honestly. Find your passions and pursue what speaks to your heart.

Don’t wait.

Start now. Today. This minute.

Start living your life off the grid and you’ll be amazed at what you can do.

Find meaning each day,

Dara
